GLOWPLUG PREHEAT EXPLANATION:
DFX-Online.com preheat timer modules are specially designed for industrial diesel engines to automate the engine preheating process. The timer’s preheat output automatically activates when the ignition switch is turned to the run position, and will preheat the engines glowplug(s) for a fixed amount time. Due to the preheat systems high power requirement, the timer positive output signal must be connected to an optional high power relay. For an application requiring preheat indication, install an optional indication light to pin-2. Once the preheat module has completed its timing sequence, the glowplug output (pin-2) will automatically turn off. At this point, the engine has completed the preheat sequence and can be started. The preheat timing sequence can be cancelled at any time by simply turning the ignition switch to the off position, or by turning the ignition switch to the start position which cancels the preheat timing and activates the afterglow timing. Afterglow is used to help reduce white smoke and also to allow the engine to start more efficiently. When the starter motor is energized by turning the ignition switch to the start position, the afterglow timing sequence is activated which starts a second timer specific for afterglow duration. The afterglow circuit turns “ON” as soon as pin-5 is activated; however the afterglow timer countdown begins only when the pin-5 is de-energized. Depending on the specification, afterglow during start motor activation may be turned “ON” or “OFF”. Please note that preheat and afterglow specifications can vary from engine to engine. Please consult your engine’s technical specification guide when selecting preheat timer modules for your engine.

  • Glowplug Preheat Duration: 1 to 60 Seconds
